We had a wonderful 3 days here in Spring break ‘09 followed by a week chillin’ in San Diego - a perfect holiday!
Disneyland is great for children and adults.  We had one day in Disney itself and then another full day in Californialand and the last day split between the two.  It was the perfect amount of time and, come day three, we had all had enough.
One tip, leave the water rides until the very end of the day - my wife and daughter got soaked too early and I ended up buying two new sets of dry clothes. Expensive ride!!

We had a great time in late April of 2010.  We were there 6 days, which is too much for the parks, but we needed some pool time as well, so we split the days in half and it worked well.  We would hit the parks early and be out of there by 1PM or so when the real crowds begin showing up.  Staying at the Grand Californian was well worth the extra $‘s, especially for location.  A few recommendations:  Steak 55 in the Disney Hotel was the best restaurant.  La Brea at the park entrance end of Downtown Disney was the best breakfast place. ESPN allows kids if they are with adults and they have an amazing game floor upstairs that has ‘real’ games (football toss, basketball shooting, etc) as well as great video games.  Dads: you can watch the game on your choice of about a million TV’s while the wife shops and the kids play games…perfect.

Use the early entrance option if you have it on your tickets to catch a couple of rides and then 15 minutes before the park opens, zip over to the closest point to the busiest ride you want to go on.  The rest of the hoardes will be lined up on Main Street and you will be way ahead of them and first on the ride that would take you an hour later in day to line up for.  Also, use the “Express Passes” whenever you can.  They are free and allow you to go in the short line during a specified time window.  Tip: there is no real end to the “time window”, it can be used later in the day at any point.  However, you can get another set of express passes to any ride once your window has passed for the first one.  Thus, you can save them up for a later blitz of the park when it is super busy later in the day.

Lastly, there is a website that offers a computer program called “Ride Max”, which will tell you the best itinerary for the day once you input your desired rides into the program.  We were there at a relatively quiet time, but a friend who was there at Spring Break used it and said it was indispensible!

Cheers!!!
